Michael Saylor’s digital asset management company, Strategy Inc., has just achieved an unprecedented new high in crypto value, surpassing several prominent banks and matching the gross domestic product of entire countries.
“We embarked on our journey with $0.25 billion in Bitcoin — facing an immediate unrealized loss of $0.04 billion,” stated Saylor on Thursday, highlighting that Strategy’s Bitcoin assets are now valued at $77.4 billion, nearly double their worth in 2024.
This valuation coincides with Bitcoin’s rebound to the $120,000 mark. Despite being down 3% from its all-time high in mid-August, the record valuation for Strategy is largely due to the acquisition of 11,085 BTC over the past seven weeks.
The latest purchase was modest, totaling 196 BTC on Monday.
Strategy’s Bitcoin cache now exceeds the market capitalization of several leading banks, such as BNY Mellon, Sberbank, US Bancorp, CIBC, ING, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, ANZ Bank, and Lloyds.
A stash exceeding an entire nation’s GDP
Strategy currently possesses 640,031 BTC, making up 3.2% of the total circulating supply. The next largest Bitcoin digital asset treasury belongs to MARA Holdings, which holds 52,477 BTC, valued at around $6.3 billion.
With $77 billion worth of Bitcoin, one could purchase 2,566,667 cars at $30,000 each or 385,000 houses priced at $200,000 each.

This amount is also akin to the total GDP of countries like Uruguay, Sri Lanka, and Slovenia, indicating that Strategy’s Bitcoin assets are equivalent to the annual economic output of entire nations.
El Salvador’s Bitcoin holdings are nearing ATH
The largest nation-state Bitcoin treasury is held by El Salvador, currently reported to possess 6,338 BTC, valued at about $762.5 million, according to the El Salvador Bitcoin Office.
This valuation is slightly below its all-time high of nearly $770 million reached in mid-August, as the nation has been accumulating at a much slower rate, approximately one BTC per day, though whether it has been actively purchasing Bitcoin remains a contentious topic in crypto discussions.
Strategy owns nearly half of total BTC treasury holdings
The total BTC held by public and private entities stands at 1.32 million BTC, or 6.6% of the overall supply, valued at around $159 billion at present market prices, according to BitcoinTreasuries.NET.
Strategy is the dominant player in digital asset treasuries, commanding an impressive 48% of the total BTC held by approximately 266 public and private organizations.
