Solana Mobile has announced that its much-anticipated SKR token will officially launch on January 21, allowing Solana Seeker smartphone users to claim up to 20% of the token through an airdrop.
On Wednesday, Solana announced that the SKR token will be available starting January 21 at 2 am UTC. Users will have the opportunity to delegate their tokens to “Guardians,” who will be responsible for securing the Solana network while also verifying devices and curating the decentralized application store.
In return for delegating their tokens, users will receive rewards and gain access to exclusive features within the app.
“SKR will provide everyone who has supported us with a chance to shape the platform’s success: determining who can participate, the rules they follow, and the economic dynamics that sustain it,” stated Solana Mobile’s general manager Emmett Hollyer said. “This airdrop is just the beginning.”
The first ever Seeker Season has concluded, with over 265 dApps, 9 million transactions, and $2.6 billion in volume.
Thank you to the 100,000+ Seekers who participated.

The Seeker represents Solana Mobile’s second blockchain-powered device, designed to bring decentralized applications, payments, and token ownership directly to users.
In October, Solana Mobile ceased software and security support for its first phone, the Saga, following the Seeker’s launch in August.
The Solana Seeker appears to have achieved greater success, processing 9 million transactions and generating $2.6 billion in trading volume through 265 decentralized applications from over 100,000 users.
Solana Mobile aims to disrupt the mobile app duopoly controlled by Apple and Google, platforms that Hollyer claims have limited user options and developer freedom.
57% of SKR to be distributed on day one
According to Solana Mobile’s website, 30% of airdrops will be accessible at launch, with two-thirds designated for Solana Seeker users and developers.
Additionally, 2.7 billion SKR, representing 27% of the total supply of 10 billion, will be unlocked during the token generation event.

Of this total, 1 billion tokens are set aside for the community treasury, another 1 billion for liquidity, and 700 million for growth and partnerships.
The Solana Mobile team and Solana Labs have been allocated 15% and 10% of SKR tokens, respectively.
Guardians will be introduced at the SKR token launch. Notable Solana infrastructure platforms such as Anza, DoubleZero, Helius, and Jito will serve as Guardians to support the growth of Solana Seeker.
