The week begins positively with bitcoin rising over 1% to $89,800, nearing the upper limit of the recent week-long range between $85,000 and $90,000. Resistance exists between $92,000 and $95,000, a significant barrier for bullish traders, as noted by BRN.
This week’s U.S. economic calendar is minimal yet significant, featuring third-quarter U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) and consumer confidence reports on Tuesday, followed by jobless claims on Wednesday.
These statistics could sway investors’ risk appetite, although holiday festivities may result in reduced market liquidity, causing volatile price shifts. On Friday, BTC and ETH options worth $27 billion are due to expire on Deribit, with bullish positioning likely leading up to the event.
Despite the price rebound, some analysts express caution.
“The short-term positive momentum might be misleading, and the larger narrative of disappointment compared to early-year expectations should not be ignored,” stated Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, in an email.
“Bitcoin is 30% below its peak and trading lower than it was at the beginning of 2025. Attempts to negate YTD momentum are of little comfort in this context,” he added. The cryptocurrency commenced the year near $93,400, according to CoinDesk data.
In the broader market, tokens such as HYPE, KAS, SKY, and NIGHT have appreciated by 4% to 6% in the past 24 hours, while major altcoins like XRP, ETH, and SOL are showing mixed performance. The CoinDesk 20 and CoinDesk 80 indexes remain relatively unchanged.
Uniswap’s UNI token has dipped over 1% as voting initiates on a proposal to implement the protocol fee switch, aiming to convert the token into a value-accruing asset. The voting appears to be heavily in favor of the protocol.
In traditional markets, gold reached a record high of $4,420 as long-term bond yields in Japan continued to climb, underscoring fiscal challenges. The dollar index experienced a slight decline to $98.48, reversing Friday’s gain. Stay vigilant!
