The CEO of SOL Strategies firmly believes in the potential of Bitcoin, even in light of recent challenges faced by the leading crypto asset.

Leah Wald expressed to the press her expectation that Bitcoin will experience a significant surge before the end of the year. Her benchmark? The impressive $175,000 milestone – a figure she considers conservative compared to some bolder predictions.

The market has already defied expectations — Bitcoin recently soared to approximately $124,000 — making major fluctuations feasible.

    Institutional Interest Fuels Growth

Wald attributes part of the momentum to the influx of institutional investment. She highlighted firms like BlackRock and notable investors like Cathie Wood, mentioning how comments from influential figures such as Larry Fink have altered the discourse around crypto.

These influential voices introduce models and balance-sheet strategies that, as she noted in a CNBC TV18 interview, support much higher price projections than were previously anticipated.

The industry’s past struggles are still evident. Following the FTX collapse, numerous companies faced banking issues, and trust was undermined.

However, Wald believes the landscape has changed: banks and asset managers are beginning to reopen, facilitating the entry of significant investments into crypto. While this does not eliminate risks, it alters the approach of large investors toward the market.

    Long-Term Projections Remain Highly Ambitious

Reports indicate that some forecasts extend well beyond this year. Wald noted predictions suggesting Bitcoin could reach $1 million by 2030, a level that would far exceed current prices.

Such long-term projections are founded on assumptions regarding adoption, limited supply, and the potential role Bitcoin may play in institutional portfolios. Whether reality aligns with these predictions remains uncertain.

Short-term dynamics are equally important. If Bitcoin were to achieve $175,000 by year-end, it would represent a swift ascent from current figures around $124,000.

Traders and managers aware of market volatility recognize that such movements are possible, yet they also understand that the trajectory is seldom linear. Expectations, capital flows, and news all contribute to rapid market shifts.

    From Speculation To Infrastructure

Wald suggests that crypto has evolved beyond merely seeking quick profits. She perceives a broader transformation: mainstream finance is being restructured using blockchain technologies, shifting the conversation from short-term trading to the underlying architecture and operation of the system.

Nation-states contemplating adoption and major asset managers developing custody services play a role in this evolving landscape, she added, which influences price formation.
