The Solana ecosystem is making strides into hardware with the upcoming debut of its very first handheld gaming console.

Play Solana, a project focused on creating a Web3 gaming device on the Solana blockchain, has announced that it will begin shipping its Play Solana Gen 1 (PSG1) device on October 6.

This device is equipped with gaming-ready specifications, featuring an octa-core ARM processor, 8 gigabytes of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a touch LCD display. It also offers a built-in hardware wallet and fingerprint authentication, enabling users to securely store crypto assets while enjoying their games.

Additionally, it has launched a limited non-fungible token (NFT) collection, granting 2,000 holders early access and other benefits within the ecosystem.

    Solana Expands into Physical Products

This launch aligns with Solana’s ongoing efforts to delve deeper into consumer-facing products, building on initiatives like the Saga smartphone.

In 2022, Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs, released Saga, an Android-based smartphone geared toward blockchain functionality.

This device provided users access to essential Web3 tools such as a Seed Vault, the Solana Mobile Stack, and a decentralized applications (DApp) store specifically designed for participants in the Solana ecosystem.

The introduction of Saga received mixed feedback from the community, but ultimately led to a successful launch in 2023, creating significant excitement among users.

In 2023, the product even reached prices of up to $5,000 on eBay, as it came bundled with a complimentary airdrop of the BONK memecoin. The phone originally retailed for $599 on the Solana Mobile website.

In 2024, Solana Mobile revealed a second-generation mobile phone, emphasizing that it would not simply be a “memecoin phone.”

In 2025, the phone garnered 150,000 pre-orders, with revenue projections hitting $67.5 million. On August 5, Solana Mobile announced that it began shipping the Seeker phone to over 50 countries.
