Robinhood, the cryptocurrency and stock trading platform, is poised to enter Indonesia’s rapidly growing cryptocurrency market following its acquisition of two local fintech companies.

On Sunday, Robinhood announced agreements to acquire Buana Capital, an Indonesian brokerage, and PT Pedagang Aset Kripto, a licensed digital financial asset trader in Indonesia, “signifying our entry into one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic markets.”

With over 19 million capital market investors and 17 million crypto investors, Indonesia presents a “compelling opportunity for equities and crypto trading,” according to the firm.

The acquisition of an established brokerage will facilitate Robinhood’s market entry by ensuring regulatory compliance and providing a solid foundation, while the purchase of a licensed digital asset platform will expedite its ability to offer crypto products.

“Indonesia offers a rapidly growing market for trading, making it an exciting venue to advance Robinhood’s mission to democratize finance for everyone,” stated Patrick Chan, Robinhood’s head of Asia.

    Burgeoning Indonesian crypto market

Robinhood will continue to support Buana Capital customers with Indonesian financial offerings, the company mentioned.

“In the long run, we aim to provide Robinhood brokerage and crypto trading products, connecting Indonesian customers to US equities, cryptocurrencies, and more on a large scale,” it added.

Financial specifics of the deal were not disclosed, though it is anticipated to finalize in the first half of 2026.

According to Chainalysis, Indonesia is ranked among the top global crypto markets, holding the seventh position worldwide in its 2025 adoption index and leading in Southeast Asia.

The total transaction value of crypto assets in Indonesia surged to over 650 trillion Indonesian rupiah ($39.7 billion) in 2024, a threefold increase from the previous year, as reported by Reuters.

    Robinhood expands into prediction markets

Based in California, Robinhood entered the European and British markets in 2024 and has recently been actively pursuing acquisitions.

The company is moving into the popular prediction markets segment with the acquisition of an FTX-linked firm in November.

In November, Robinhood also noted that prediction markets have become one of its fastest-growing revenue-generating product lines.
