Bitget supports UNICEF’s global Game Jam hackathon and will create UNICEF’s first blockchain training module to provide youth with essential digital skills.
Summary
- The hackathon is available for participants under 21 from eight countries.
- Through its partnership with UNICEF, Bitget Academy is also designing UNICEF’s inaugural interactive blockchain training module for video game development.
Bitget, a leading Universal Exchange (UEX), has announced its official support for UNICEF’s first global Game Jam, a virtual hackathon aimed at empowering youth in eight countries to develop original video games over a 40-day span. Participants must be under 21 years of age and can join from Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, and South Africa.
This initiative is part of Bitget’s strategic collaboration with UNICEF’s Game Changers Coalition, which seeks to equip young individuals, particularly girls in emerging markets, with STEAM skills and opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation.
“Introducing digital skills to children early is vital for advancing the development of emerging technologies and finance. Technologies like blockchain provide tools for youth to become global entrepreneurs, innovators, and builders. We aim to harness this potential and create a more inclusive and empowering digital landscape for future women leaders,” stated Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget.
As part of this partnership, Bitget Academy, the educational division of Bitget, is also working on UNICEF’s first interactive blockchain training module focused on video game production. This program will equip participants with practical blockchain skills—including smart contract integration, tokenization, and decentralized game mechanics—and is projected to engage 300,000 individuals, including adolescent girls, parents, mentors, and educators across the eight countries.
The hackathon initiative follows Bitget’s recent launch of its “Lady Forward” campaign, marking a new era for its flagship women-in-blockchain initiative, Blockchain4Her. Lady Forward extends into university collaborations, internship opportunities, and the Female Leaders Program, fostering connections among women within the blockchain ecosystem.
Since its launch in January of last year, Blockchain4Her has achieved significant impact, funding 11 women-led startups through its Pitch n’ Slay competitions and engaging over 300,000 individuals globally through its partnership with UNICEF’s Game Changers Coalition.
It also builds on the earlier Blockchain4Youth initiative, introduced in May 2023, which provides students with digital and entrepreneurial skills through courses, hackathons, and mentorship programs.
