A cryptocurrency investor has contributed £9 million ($12 million) to the U.K. political party Reform, as indicated by a filing from the Electoral Commission on Thursday.
The donation from Christopher Harborne, an entrepreneur residing in Thailand with investments in stablecoin issuer Tether and crypto exchange Bitfinex, according to a Financial Times article, is noted by various sources as the largest donation ever made to a U.K. political party by a living individual. The all-time record of £10 million was a bequest from Lord John Sainsbury to the Conservative party in his will in 2022.
Harborne had previously supported Reform, then known as the Brexit Party, in 2019, and has also donated to the Conservatives over the years.
This latest donation means that Reform received more in donations than any other U.K. party during the third quarter of 2025.
Nigel Farage, who has led the polls for much of this year, is seeking to attract the crypto voter demographic by accepting donations in cryptocurrency and pledging to establish a bitcoin reserve if elected to government.
Harborne’s contribution was in cash, rather than cryptocurrency.
